RI Outdoors: It’s Okay To Get Hooked
Catch o’ the Day!
Make the most of this great opportunity to learn to fish. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is hosting a free class for families and individuals ages nine and older. The course includes 2 hours of classroom training including a review of regulations, casting instructions, fly tying tips and tackle recommendations. After a lunch break (bring your own) head out to the adjacent lake to try your skills. Best of all, the certified instructors provide all fishing tackle and course materials. Lessons do not include bragging rights.

Pedalers Unite!
A nice bike ride in the country is always refreshing and enjoyable. This one comes with added benefits. Many – probably most – of the participants will be riding vintage bikes, including 19th century high wheelers. The annual Copake Bicycle and Automobilia Auction takes place on Saturday, April 13. As a lead-in, the historical bike group The Wheelmen hold a 10-mile bike ride the day before. Anyone is welcome to participate; no bike is too new, no rider too old or too young. After all, today’s riders are tomorrow’s collectors. Spend the morning at the outdoor Bike Swap Meet, then mount up and head out on the easy circuit amidst handlebars and handlebar mustaches.
