LitNet Celebrates 21 Years of Connecting Community
Rachel Louchen reports from Stockbridge.
The Literacy Network of South Berkshire held its annual fundraising gala on Saturday, October 13, at the Berkshire Country Day School, celebrating the educational organization as well as a few notable members of the community. The Masiero Brothers, Matt and Chris of Guido’s and Paul of Baba Louie’s, who are the first generation sons of immigrants (and whose businesses in total employ more than 300 Berkshire County residents) sang the praises of LitNet. The organization, which celebrated its 21st year, is an essential touchstone in the community, connecting volunteer tutors to students with limited reading skills. Guests (including LitNet tutor coordinator Mary Spina, with Bill Dunleavy, and his wife Sue, above) enjoyed music and food as well as a presentation of the brothers' lives and careers displaying photos of the early stages of their businesses, and their lives.
