Fall for Art Takes Millerton By Storm
Despite the heavy rains, every shop in Millerton was hopping on Saturday night for the first Fall for Art celebration, which promised 50 artists and 30 parties in 3 hours. At the Motorworks (left), which normally repairs vintage sports car, Alex Kramer had his friend Sophia Tarrasov hang her paintings (and sell her hand-screened T-shirts) in his garage. At Gilmor Glass, Jonathan Bee (with an assist from local real estate titan Leo Flood) made an art installation featuring a stretch limousine, lace panels and complimentary glasses of champagne. And at Little Gates & Co.Wine Merchants, where there was live folk music, Andrew Gates poured and poured wine from Hudson-Chatham Winery as it poured and poured outside.
Architect and furniture designer Rob Bristow and his son, Sam; Amy Singer in a borrowed dress from HunterBee's backroom with Petria May, Great Barrington's doyenne of vintage clothing.
Artist Henry Klimowicz, with one of his cardboard sculptures, which were shown in downtown Millerton's sole vacant storefront, with Michael Peek.
Jonathan Bee and Leo Flood, who started investing in Millerton real estate twenty years ago, at Gilmor Glass; Mimi & Paul Harney at Parlour, her dress boutique on Main Street.
Musicians played at Little Gates, while strollers like Kurt Purdy and David Feld sampled wines.
Illustrator Carl Chaiet and Patty Mullins, who showed her paintings at Oblong Books & Music, where she works part time.
Conrad Levenson, who showed pieces from Scrapdations at HunterBee; Patricia Stevens with Scott Culbreth, who showed his landscape paintings at the vacant pharmacy
Sophia Tarrasov with Alex Kramer, who hosted the official "after party" at the Motorworks.
