The First Breeze of Summer
The main stages may be dark, but this is a busy time for our regional theaters which must announce their summer seasons so they can start casting their plays and musicals. The Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge will start its 2009 summer season in late spring and it will continue into winter—the longest season in the company's 81-year history. Berkshire Theatre Festival is dedicating the season to the memory of playwright William Gibson, the author of plays such as Bus Stop and Golda's Balcony, who was the festival's artistic director from 1966 - 1970. Over at TriArts in Sharon, which mixes local talent with professionals, auditions (by appointment only) for its four summer musicals will be held January 30 & 31, and February 1, 3 & 4, 2009.
