Sales & Bargains: The Bright Side of Summer’s End
Sure, we wish it would go on forever. Who wouldn’t with weather like we’ve had the past few days (notice how much earlier the porch light needs to get switched on?). But you can’t fight the calendar. What you can do is cheer yourself up with a bargain or two at one of the many end-of-season sales in our region. Joan Osofsky of Hammertown Barn, in Pine Plains, of course, is having one of the big tent events that always flank her summer season (these photos were taken there in May). And word has it that the Stormville Airport Flea Market is back to its old bargain prices, after a couple of years of reaching for the stars. And the tag sale at the Presbyterian church in Hudson has gotten so big, it spills out onto the street. But you probably know more than we do. If you hear about a sale (a little discount rack doesn’t count—it’s got to be a bigger deal than that), please leave a comment, and we’ll add it to our list, giving credit, naturally, where it’s due.
You could furnish an entire house from this sale—bedding, antiques, sofas. A real happening, bargain hunters drive-up from the city for discounts up to 75%.
