Washington Antiques Show Preview Party

Rural Intelligence Parties and Openings Scott Baldinger reports from Washington
A golden hue and relaxed, congenial air pervaded the preview party for the annual Washington Antiques Show, which took place on October 5, at a local primary school due to recent damage to the Bryan Memorial Town Hall (where it usually happens). The show, one of the major annual fundraisers for the Gunn Memorial Library and Museum, had plenty of comely looking art and antiques, modern and traditional, on display from 20 haute dealers, most from the Litchfield area but a few from New York City as well. Vendors and attendees alike enjoyed mingling on a gorgeous, unusually warm fall evening. (I even caught a glimmer of a sale or two from the corner of my eye.) One of the many reasons for the good vibe (at left): Washington Antiques Show chair Susan Bednar Long and the Gunn’s Wendy Rhodes, both greeting guests.
