A Pomperaug River Runs Through It

Sarah Todd reports from Woodbury.
Do river nymphs live in Woodbury? The idyllic landscape at the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition‘s annual Evening by the River benefit on Saturday, June 15, made their presence seem likely. Guests in flowered shifts and crisp jackets sipped white wine while lounging by the river and nibbled bacon-wrapped scallops beneath trellises lush with vines. The evening’s guest of honor, NPR’s Faith Middleton (left, flanked by the Connecticut Summer Opera Foundation’s Vincent Deluise and Maria Jablon), was on hand to host the event, which was sponsored by Mill House Antiques. A live auction featured prizes like a night’s stay and dinner for two at the Mayflower Inn, a stay at a Hilton Head villa, and a gourmet dinner prepared by Good News Cafe‘s Carole Peck.

Mill House Antiques’ Diana Hildreth and her niece Maria Deckmann; Dan and Brooke Weise of Weise Choice Tree Services.

Kim Groves, real estate agent George Hartery, and Andrea Hartery; journalist Molly Mazilu and Egon Loffel.

Alexandra Hildreth with her father, Mill House Antiques’ William Hildreth; Laura Deckmann, and Robert Deckmann.

Connecticut Community Foundation’s Ann Feinberg and Mike Feinberg with Kristen Jacoby; Cathy Denault and real estate agent Gary Smith.

David Payne, Stacy Payne, and Sylvia Eisenberg; Elizabeth Radocchio and Elizabeth Eisenberg.

Megan Han, Lisa Olivere, and Joan Krantz of Woodland for Women Worldwide.
