Leisurely Lenox Gallery Crawl
Fiona Breslin reports from Lenox. A trifecta of openings brought art enthusiasts to Lenox for an early evening gallery crawl on Saturday, July 7. At The Bookstore, The Shade Gallery held a reception to unveil Kindle-ing, a multi-media show featuring the work of 25 local artists inspired by the changing nature of books in the electronic age, which will remain on view through Labor Day. Hoadley Gallery welcomed back perennial favorite Lucy MacGillis, a Berkshire native based in Italy, with her new series of light-infused oil paintings of landscapes, people, and interior scenes, which will remain on view through August 1. At Sienna Gallery, a boisterous bunch gathered to view the work of Swedish artist Marta Mattson, whose jewel-encrusted bug brooches and pendants strike a balance between alluring and alarming. Her exhibit, petrified lives, is on view through July 22.
At The Shade Gallery: BOLA granola gal Michele Miller with Margie Bullock; Sean Thrasher, David Thrasher, and Derin Thrasher in front of a reading rainbow artwork.
Artist Bart Arnold in front of his work, with daughter Emma Arnold and wife Ute Arnold; Benno Friedman and Deirdre Sullivan.
Artists Peter Murkett and Bart Arnold.
Tracy Foster and Andy Foster; gallery goers Ann Shea and photographer Sabine Vollmer in front of Shea’s favorite painting by MacGillis.
